Evaluation of Macro shot of grass in the evening

Macro shot of grass with sunset  The subject of this image is 'As a Concept'. This is a macro shot of some grass around 7pm in the even of summer. I really liked how the field looked with the sunset in the background, and I like macro shots, so I tried getting a picture of this. It would look a lot better if the camera focused properly but I really like this one. The main focus of this image is the grass with the sun light hitting the back of it, it gives the image a summer-y effect. I think with this photo I used a pair of sunglasses to get the warm sepia effect, I was just experimenting with it. The main target audience for this type of photo would probably be adults and people who like nature. If this picture was taken on a good camera it would look really nice as a photo on the wall of someones house.
In comparison to a professional photo mine could compare well. My brother thinks that "Jordan's image is much nicer because the lighting is bright and makes the image look colourful." - Jamie Bryant.

Evaluation of reflection of sunset on a summer evening

Sunset Reflection Long shot

The subject of this image is 'a Natural Event'. I have put it in this subject because the sunset is basically a natural event. I took this photo whilst on holiday in mid-Wales once again by the lake. I really like this photo because I like how the outer edge of the image is darker, making the reflection of the sun the main focus. Also I like how you can only just see the reflection of the trees too, just a little extra part I like about it. I think the main audience for this style of image would be adults and anyone interested in photography, they may find this interesting. But mainly it is aimed at anyone that just likes the photo really.
In comparison to a professional photo (to the left), I think my photo is better, compared to this one anyway. My brother thinks that "The image above looks nicer because it looks like it has a better quality camera with no blur, unlike the image below it." - Jamie Bryant.

Evalutation of Macro Barbed Wire

Barbed Wire Macro-shot

The subject of this image is 'As a Concept'. This is a macro shot of a barbed wire fence with the field blurred out in the background. I took this photo whilst on holiday in mid-Wales on a walk around the lake. I  really like this image, I don't know why, I just like macro shots in general and like how the grass in the background makes it seem like a really nice day. It gives the photo a nice warm feeling to it in a way. Plus I like sharp, dangerous stuff so the barbed wire appeals to me. The main focus of the image is obviously the barbed wire. I kind of used the 'Rule of Thirds' with where the main focus is positioned, (to the right a little), at the time I didn't really know much about the rule of thirds but I liked how it looked anyway so I used this method. The main audience for this type of image is aimed more at adults and anyone who likes macro pictures. Some people may like this as a picture in their home or as a computer background.
In comparison to a professional image (to the left) I think my image could compete well against it. They are both very similar images but personally I prefer mine because I like the look of the rugged barbs rather than new, smooth ones. My brother thinks that " your image is more interesting because it has a better range of colours and looks more unique with the aged look of the barbed wire" - Jamie Bryant.

Take photographic images for a specific purpose

The three categories I will be focusing on are:
-Record an Event (friends or family event, sporting event, natural event etc...)
-For an exhibition (any type of photo)
      -As a concept (black and white/ changing seasons/ weather/ light/ close-ups etc...)

For an event I am going to take pictures of holidays, birthday, Christmas, sporting event maybe, concert, natural events and anything else I think of at the time.

For an Exhibition I am going to take pictures of landscape, mountains, sunset, Severn bridge, buildings, floods, rivers and streams, waterfalls, forests and anything else I find interesting that fits in with the theme of Exhibition.

For my Concept images, I am going to take pictures of plants, animals, trees, ornaments, silhouette shots, macro shots, snow maybe, lights, instruments, and anything else I find interesting.

Exhibition

This is a photo I have taken of the Severn Bridge. This is a wide shot. I like this photo because it displays (well near enough) the whole bridge, with a nice little feature of the rocks in the bottom left corner.  - This photo was taken from Sudbrook cliffs.

I like this photo too which was also taken at the Severn Bridge but at a later date. I like how the sun reflects in a straight line down the river towards the camera, it gives the photo a warm feeling to it. - This photo was also taken at Sudbrook cliffs.

This is one of my favorite photos of the Severn Bridge. I really like the colours given from the sun in this photo. It looks as though I have edited the colour of the sky, this image is completely unedited, just got up really early. You can also see the reflection on the water of the bridge, not that noticeable but a nice little touch. - Picture taken from Sudbrook cliffs, again...

This also another one of my favorite photos. It is a picture of the reflection of the sunset on a lake. I have not edited this image in any way either. This photo was taken in mid-Wales during our holiday sometime last year. - Mid-Wales campsite's lake, Forest Fields campsite.

I took this photo during a photography trip with my Auntie and Grandad. I think this photo is nice because it looks like I have used a black and white feature on my camera to take this photo, but I haven't used any effects and its is not edited in any way. - Picture taken on a pebble beach... (I have forgotten the name of the place...)

This is a picture of the sunset with a silhouette style look around this pear tree. I took this photo from my bedroom window and only later on did i realize the silhouette effect given by the tree. The photo is completely unedited as the others are. I like this photo because the colours are nice and give a warm feel to them. - Picture taken from my bedroom window over looking the back garden.

Concept Images

This is a picture of my brother with his guitar. I have used this image because it has two parts to it that suit the concept area. First of it has a close up/ macro shot of the guitar, and secondly it is taken in black and white.

This is one of my favorite photos. I took this photo whilst on holiday in mid-Wales on a walk. It is a macro shot of barbed wire on a nice sunny day. It gives a nice warm feeling to it. This image has not been edited in anyway.

This is a macro shot of a daisy flower. I took this photo at Caldicot castle during the summer. I like he nice, bright colours in this image. The fly is unintentional...

This is another macro shot. It is a photo of a butter cup. It looks as though I have used a sepia effect with this image, when in fact I haven't, all i did was use a pair of sunglasses in front of the camera's lens, just a random test. It turned out to work quite well for a sepia, summer-y effect.

Once again, for this shot I have used a par of sunglasses to get this nice sepia effect. I like this shot because it looks summer-y with a sun flair reflecting off of the grass. I took this photo at Caldicot castle.

This is a macro shot of a dragonfly. I like this picture because it has nice bright colours like a summer day. The colour contrast between the green and the red works well in this picture. I took this photo in mid-Wales during the summer on a small digital camera.

This is a macro shot of a rose taken in black and white. Originally the rose was pink, explaining why it appears so white in black and white. Once again I took this photo whilst on holiday in mid-Wales.  have used the rule of thirds in this shot to have the rose to the left of the shot.

(sorry for so many macro shots...they're just my favorite type of shot...) This is a macro shot of a miniature toy inside of a slingshot. I took this photo for no other reason than "I was bored.." but I like how the toy stands out in the image with its bright colours.

This is a macro shot of a dandelion I took whilst walking through a field on holiday in mid-Wales. I like the bright colours in this picture, might be better if i used 'Levels' to bring out the darker parts; that would look better.

This is a silhouette shot of a bird in the evening. I really like this picture because I like silhouette pictures in general and I like how much the blue stands out.

And finally, this is a macro shot of a tarantula. Even though I took this photo through a glass window, the quality of the image is still quite good. I like the nice bright colours displayed within the image. If the grass didn't go across in front of the camera this would have been a really nice shot.

To be continued....
